Are old coins valuable?

Yes, some (but not all) are. Some of the most valuable coins are gold and silver, but even pennies, nickels and dimes - pocket change - can have a lot of value. Learn how to sell your coin collection. For large collections, we can travel to you. We are located in the Nashville, Tennessee area.

Which coins are worth money?

Not every old coin is valuable. A 100 year old penny may only be worth a dollar or less. However, some coins an be worth a fortune. But, like a winning lottery ticket, they are very, very rare. Factors that determine a coin's value include scarcity and condition. A common, early 20th century penny may not be worth much at all in poor condition, but in brand new, mint condition it can worth a lot. A 1889 Morgan silver dollar may be common, but a 1889-CC can be worth a lot of money. The difference is scarcity. Few 1889-CC Margans were minted, while lots of the common 1889 were made. We can help you figure all of this out, and will be happy to make you a fair dealer offer should you decide to sell. If you are wanting to know where to sell coin collection for the most money, the answer is going to be an online coin buyer like us. We have a large national clientele of collectors wanting to add to their collections. A small local coin dealer just can't compete with a national buyer. They don't have a big enough market.

Which coins are NOT valuable?

A few coins that are not selling too well at this time are common date, circulated Lincoln pennies, common date nickels, dimes with dates after 1965, quarters from the last few years, and common Eisenhower dollars. These are VERY common. We do not buy these unless we must as part of a larger collection of good coins.
